Our Purpose
Our purpose is to help people move toward a desirable future, having a valued social role in the community by creating opportunities and delivering quality support, where people can discover a vision and will always be treated with respect and dignity.
Our Story
In 2006 the property was purchased by Great West Management where our Administrator, DeNellda Jones and Quality Assurance Director, Jessicia Smith were employed. Mrs Jones had previous experience (now over 30 years) providing services for people with Intellectual Disabilities. Throughout her career, she had worked her way from a CNA to Administrator. She recognized the need for quality programs for people with Intellectual Disabilities and she began developing those programs right here in Moore. Because the buildings had never been used, they needed a LOT of loving care. While waiting to be licensed, DeNellda and Jessicia began scrubbing, painting and decorating the first Home and Sierra House admitted their first resident (who is still there today) in June of 2007. It was time to work on the second house! DeNellda and Jessicia had their hands full with the first house and now the second one needed even MORE hard work. We also desperately needed a QIDP to help with writing the plans for the residents. DeNellda enlisted the help of Jamie Foster-Hale (and just in time!). While Jessicia and Jamie worked diligently on the second house, DeNellda built a team of excellent caregivers. (Many of those staff are still with us today). Santa Fe Cheyenne House was opened just 4 months later in October of 2007. Santa Fe Place has remained in good standing with the State Department of Health for 10+ years and is the only ICF-IID in Cleveland County. While many people are under the assumption that an ICF means “Institution”, Santa Fe Place has raised that standard and has proven that this just simply is not true. We pride ourselves in making every effort to assure that our homes are exactly that…. HOMES.
Our Philosophy
Allowing a person to accomplish their goals and develop a sense of pride during that journey is what we are dedicated to. We believe that when given a choice, all people would choose options that give them dignity and independence. So many times, throughout life, people with intellectual disabilities are treated as though they are helpless or children. Most people are unaware that treating people this way prevents them from reaching their full potential, hinders independence and can even feel demeaning at times. At Santa Fe Place, we understand that although your loved one may not be able to complete all of their self-care or daily activities with complete independence (yet…), they CAN and SHOULD do as much as possible with only the level of help that is necessary. Our team is comprised of professionals who have a wide variety of expertise and years of experience in providing training and supports to people with intellectual disabilities.
